George Primrose was a famous American performer, comedian, singer, and producer, who was born on April 15, 1846, in County Kildare, Ireland. He was best known for his work with the Primrose and West Minstrels, a popular vaudeville company that featured blackface minstrel performances. He began his career in the United States as a performer in circuses, minstrel shows, and medicine shows. In 1877, he formed his theatrical company, known as the "Primrose and West Minstrels." The group became one of the most popular and successful vaudeville companies of the late 19th century, known for their comedy, music, and dance performances. George Primrose died in St. Louis, Missouri, on May 18, 1919, at the age of 73.
